An aftertreatment development engineer is required for a contract role in Peterborough.
You will have six years direct experience in the leadership of APQP, FMEA and DVP&R for the aftertreatment or exhaust system of diesel engines.
Your skills
* Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent knowledge/experience).
* 6-8 years of engineering or relevant experience.
* Good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, engine components and/or systems and component development.
* Good understanding of manufacturing principles and processes.
* Self-motivated and able to manage and deliver complex projects to meet commitments.
* Effective communication skills and teamwork with both internal teams and external suppliers.
* Previous knowledge and experience of diesel engine development and new product introduction. Basic awareness of aftertreatment system function.
* Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Adheres to standard troubleshooting procedures to ensure effectiveness of resolution
* Experience of leading and participating in APQP, FMEA and DVP&R.
* Strong analytical skills, and experience of developing components and systems through simulation, rig testing and complete system testing.
Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver Aftertreatment system/component development projects to time, cost and quality goals.
* Assess technical risk through FMEA; define and coordinate simulation and validation activities (DVP&R).
* Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques (8D); ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.
* Planning and improving testing procedures and operations to make the test more reliable, efficient, and cost-effective.
* Monitoring results, machine and process capabilities and performance reliability
* Communicate project status and key issues to peers, stakeholders, and management.
* Collaborate with suppliers to develop specifications and deliver quality solutions through APQP.
* Write and review technical information and technical reports to support production design release.
* Collaborate with global teams to implement engineering solutions at worldwide facilities.
* Reflect on lessons learnt, using Lean methodology to identify improvement opportunities.
